On Father’s day, Democratic Presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama spoke to the congregation of the Apostolic Church of God in his hometown of Chicago. Obama addressed the issue of black fathers who are “missing from too many lives and too many homes.” He reminds the congregation that although this is not just a black problem it is more prevalent in the black community. Barack’s father left when he was 2 and statistics show that children born into a single parent household have pretty much doubled since the time Barack was a child.
Recent articles talk about the decline in Oprah Winfrey’s popularity. Her average listenership has fallen about 7 percent this year and this is the third straight year of decline. Some point to her endorsement of Presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama while others believe it has to do with her skeptical religious beliefs (check out you tube – “the church of Oprah”).
The latest primary results showed that Obama won N.C. 56% over Clinton’s 42% (14% victory) and Clinton won Indiana 51% to Obama’s 49% (2% victory). Currently Obama leads Clinton in delegate votes as well.
